Similar to the others reported – we were sitting outside on the patio and the light (bright yellow)came over the house in a straight line (heading roughly south east I think)- moving at a steady speed in a straight line at what appeared to be a steady height – below the few clouds but quite high(but difficult to judge) and no sound at all (which was strange, slightly eerie)It continued until it just disappeared from sight. Andrew took a photo on his mobile, unfortunately it's just a pinprick of light in the distance. I'm not the first in the family to report a sighting - my father saw something over fifty years ago when he was a pilot in the RAF - which was hushed up quickly and became one of the British 'X' Files. An explosion has torn through an offshore oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico, west of the site of a blast in April which caused a huge oil spill. All 13 crew on the rig, operated by Marine Energy, escaped into the water and were later rescued. The US Coast Guard said a blaze burned for hours after the explosion but had now been extinguished. Officials said there was no evidence of an oil leak, despite earlier reports of a mile-long sheen on the ocean.
Comment: Why did the oil workers just jump into the water, why was there not even an inflatable raft? What's more there was not enough immersion suits, so one guy had to just jump in the water with no protection! So far, we know that this was a production platform not a drilling platform and a junction of 7 pipelines that were carrying oil and gas. Of course, the news is vague and it seems we have the familiar pattern of varying news reports contradicting each other e.g. the report of a 100 mile long oil sheen around the rig. Well, there has been 9 oil/gas related accidents in the US in the last month alone, how long can this go on? Worldwide there appears to be an increase in pipeline explosions and tanker incidents, that I would associate with Space Weather (geomagnetic storms), as previously explained many times on my websites. Mass extinctions have served as huge reset buttons that dramatically changed the diversity of species found in oceans all over the world, according to a comprehensive study of fossil records. The findings suggest humans will live in a very different future if they drive animals to extinction, because the loss of each species can alter entire ecosystems.
Some scientists have speculated that effects of humans - from hunting to climate change - are fueling another great mass extinction. A few go so far as to say we are entering a new geologic epoch, leaving the 10,000-year-old Holocene Epoch behind and entering the Anthropocene Epoch, marked by major changes to global temperatures and ocean chemistry, increased sediment erosion, and changes in biology that range from altered flowering times to shifts in migration patterns of birds and mammals and potential die-offs of tiny organisms that support the entire marine food chain.
Comment: Well, evolutionary biologists are very short sighted these days as the historical record clearly shows that that we have had continuous change for billions of years on this planet. There are certain epochs were some species are eliminated en masse and at the same time others just appear and flourish that are more suited to the environmental conditions. Scientists cannot explain how this can occur simultaneously, and they certainly don't acknowledge that the evidence is clear that evolutionary change on this planet is being managed by universal intelligence. Anyone carrying a compass would have seen its measurements skew by about a degree a week — a flash in geologic time. A paper describing the discovery is slated to appear in Geophysical Research Letters.
It is only the second report of such a speedy change in geomagnetic direction. The first, described in 1995 based on rocks at Steens Mountain, Oregon, has never gained widespread acceptance in the paleomagnetism community. A second example could bolster the theory that reversals really can happen quickly, over the course of years or centuries instead of millennia.
“We’re trying to make the case that [the new work] is another record of a superfast magnetic change,” says lead author Scott Bogue, a geologist at Occidental College in Los Angeles.
Researchers aren’t sure why the geomagnetic field reverses itself. Many think it must have something to do with what creates the field in the first place — convective motions of liquid iron in the planet’s spinning outer core.
Bogue and his colleague, Jonathan Glen of the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park, California, went to Nevada to study a series of well-preserved lava flows. As each flow cooled, it preserved the orientation of the magnetic field at the time, frozen like a tiny compass needle in the rock’s magnetic crystals.
One particular flow caught the scientists’ attention because it seemed to carry a complex magnetic history. This lava, Bogue says, initially started to cool and then was heated again within a year as a fresh lava flow buried it. The fresh lava re-magnetized the crystals within the rock below, causing them to reorient themselves a whopping 53 degrees. At the rate the lava would have cooled, says Bogue, that would mean the magnetic field was changing direction at approximately 1 degree per week.
Comment: This is interesting. These scientists are trying to make the case that they have supportive evidence for a fast geomagnetic flip similar to that recorded at Steen's Mountain, Oregon. This was very highly controversial as it supported the idea that the Earth's magnetic field flipped in a matter of days [Coe, Prévot, 1995]. Since this conclusion was made by some of the top experimental geoscientists in the world, doubters were forced to ignore the findings rather than try to disprove them. I wrote about this research in my book because of the belief that a superfast flip of Earth's magnetic poles could be caused by a massive solar flare, if our Sun had temporarily become a T-Tauri type star. This latest finding still goes against the prevailing belief that everything in geology happens really slowly, despite the fact that there is ample evidence which supports the theory of Punctuated Equilibrium. What's more, this theory is becoming associated with the later theory of Self-Organized Criticality that theorist suggest is common to all complex dynamical systems. The global-warming establishment took a body blow this week, as the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change received a stunning rebuke from a top-notch independent investigation.
For two decades, the IPCC has spearheaded efforts to convince the world's governments that man-made carbon emissions pose a threat to the global temperature equilibrium -- and to civilization itself. IPCC reports, collated from the work of hundreds of climate scientists and bureaucrats, are widely cited as evidence for the urgent need for drastic action to "save the planet."

THE Peak District's highest mountain, Kinder Scout, is best known for its dramatic gritstone landscape – rather than its links with aliens from Venus and Mars.
However, over the Bank Holiday weekend, almost 30 members of the Aetherius Society came from all over the country to pray and chant mantras on the peak, which they believe to be charged with "spiritual energy" by extraterrestrials.
Founded in 1955 by Dr George King, the Aetherius Society believes that there are 19 mountains worldwide, nine of which are in this country, which are "charged" with this energy.
Comment: Obviously, I have a different opinion, but I will point out that historically, certain mountain peaks in Tibet have been crowded out with literally tens of thousands of Tibetan Buddhists in hundreds of monasteries and temples, (some of which still exist and have been specially preserved), who were interested in obtaining this special energy. Police shot and killed a man armed with several bombs who held three hostages Wednesday at the Discovery Communications building. Authorities said the hostages were safe.
At least one device on the man’s body went off when he was shot inside the building in suburban Washington, D.C., Montgomery County police Chief Thomas Manger said. Police were searching the building for other explosive devices.
Manger said no one was believed to have been injured other than the gunman, whom SWAT officers shot about 4:50 p.m. ET because officials “believed the hostages were in danger.” The building in the close-in suburb of Washington was safely evacuated, including the Discovery Kids Place day care center, police said.
An NBC News producer who called the building to find out what was going on had a brief telephone conversation with the man when he came on the line unexpectedly. He identified himself as James J. Lee and said, “I have a gun and I have a bomb. ... I have several bombs strapped to my body ready to go off.”

New evidence has been discovered that reinforces the panspermia thoery that the red rain which fell in India in 2001, contained cells unlike any found on Earth. Wickramasinghe's team say they've examined the way these fluoresce when bombarded with light and say it is remarkably similar to various unexplained emission spectra seen in various parts of the galaxy. One such place is the Red Rectangle (image above), a cloud of dust and gas around a young star in the Monocerous constellation.
Comment: It's 9 years after these cells were found to be colouring the rain red in Kerala, India and over 100 years since the theory of Panspermia was first suggested. Then it's over 40 years after the theory was endorsed and expanded upon by the Nobel Winner Francis Crick, who in 1953, got the credit for being the co-discoverer of the structure of the DNA molecule. I note the article makes a link to the emission spectra of the Red Rectangle, which is producing a highly charged fountain of dust. China goes organic after scandal of cooking oil from sewers Organic food sales have taken off in China after a series of safety scares, including the disclosure that one in 10 meals is cooked using oil dredged from the sewer. Interest has been promoted by a series of scares including toxic beans, contaminated milk and pork, pesticide-laced dumplings, chemically-tainted chicken, and the growing presence of what is known as “sewage oil”.
Night soil collectors typically visit the drains behind restaurants late at night to scoop up dregs of oil, which they filter and resell.
The government, which released the figures, has promised to take action against the practice. But since there are no laws against skimming oil from drains, police have had to release any suspects.
Comment: I do keep pointing out that the worst DNA mutations and abnormalities keep happening in China. The Chinese environment is polluted and the food chain is severely compromised, to the point where they are not even concerned about baby milk, this instance of re-cycled oil from the sewers is gross. Bakersfield - A doctor involved in an "on-again, off-again" relationship apparently tried to force her way into her boyfriend's home by sliding down the chimney, police said Tuesday. Her decomposing body was found there three days later. Dr. Jacquelyn Kotarac, 49, first tried to get into the house with a shovel, then climbed a ladder to the roof last Wednesday night, removed the chimney cap and slid feet first down the flue, Bakersfield police Sgt. Mary DeGeare said.
While she was trying to break in, the man she was pursuing escaped unnoticed from another exit "to avoid a confrontation," authorities said. DeGeare said the two were in an "on-again, off-again" relationship.

A Bristol man has the local weather-world talking after spotting what looks like a meteor in broad daylight.
Gordon Busche got in touch with BBC Radio Bristol's The Afternoon Show presenter, Peter Rowell, and sent in the image from his mobile phone. Gordon said he was at Cabot Circus in Bristol at about 2.30pm on Tuesday when he spotted the shape in the sky. He said: "We've just seen what looks like a meteor going across the sky from easy to west. "Very bright and fast, not sure if anyone else saw it." BBC Bristol weatherman Richard Angwin said the image looks surprisingly good.
"There seems to be a really bright blob in the centre of the image and a really long trail to the right of the image," said Richard.

Lumpy, degraded oil collected in the Mississippi Sound has tested positive for several of the main ingredients in the Corexit dispersant used in connection with the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, according to scientists working for a New Orleans-based lawyer.
Officials with the federal government and BP PLC have maintained throughout the oil spill that no dispersant products have been used near shorelines in Alabama or Mississippi.

Emergency agencies along the Eastern Seaboard are preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Earl, which threatens to graze North Carolina and lash coastal Massachusetts with wind and rain before going ashore in Nova Scotia.
Evacuations may be needed if the storm doesn’t turn north, Craig Fugate, Federal Emergency Management Agency administrator, said in a conference call today. While Earl isn’t expected to make landfall in the U.S., even a small jog to the west from its current track will have an impact on the mid-Atlantic states, said Bill Read, director of the National Hurricane Center.
Earl, a Category 4 storm, or the second-strongest on the five-step Saffir-Simpson scale, is on a path that would take it just past North Carolina’s Cape Hatteras early Sept. 3 and then on toward Nantucket and Cape Cod in Massachusetts later that day, according to the center.

UNITED NATIONS — The United Nations needs to revise the way it manages its assessments of climate change, with the scientists involved more open to alternative views, more transparent about possible conflicts of interest and more careful to avoid making policy prescriptions, an independent review panel said Monday.
The review panel also recommended that the senior officials involved in producing the periodic assessments serve in their voluntary positions for only one report — a statement interpreted to suggest that the current chairman of the climate panel, Rajendra K. Pachauri, step down.

Italy's health minister has apologised to a woman for a fight between two doctors in the delivery room as she was about to give birth. The authorities are investigating whether the woman suffered complications as a result of the row. Laura Salpietro, 30, had her uterus removed and her baby boy suffered heart problems and possible brain damage at birth on Thursday in Messina, Sicily. Her husband Matteo Molonia says the confrontation delayed a C-section.
After a heated exchange of words, one of the doctors seized his colleague by the neck and shoved him into a wall, according to Mr Molonia's account to police, reports said. The other doctor reacted by punching a window, which shattered, injuring his hand, they said.
Comment: I normally talk about the need for balance in the current extreme EM environment, see previous comments, but actually this story reminded me of when I was teaching and one of the students was on the table acting as the 'client' and another student decided to argue with me. I was absolutely appalled that in the middle of an energy balancing session, the student was still only focused on her issues and not the client. It was like this person had completely failed to comprehend the power of intent and the damage that could be done when the client was literally opened up to receive highly charged energy, but programmed 'negative'. Tiny charges gathered directly from humid air could be harnessed to generate electricity, researchers say. Dr Fernando Galembeck told the American Chemical Society meeting in Boston that the technique exploited a little-known atmospheric effect. Tests had shown that metals could be used to gather the charges, he said, opening up a potential energy source in humid climates. However, experts disagree about the mechanism and the scale of the effect.
"The basic idea is that when you have any solid or liquid in a humid environment, you have absorption of water at the surface," Dr Galembeck, from the University of Campinas in Brazil, told BBC News. "The work I'm presenting here shows that metals placed under a wet environment actually become charged."
Comment: This reminds me of the Tether incident when NASA and the Italian space agency tried to use a tether in space and the thing lit up like a neon light and then snapped when it's capacitance was reached. NASA et al. seemed to forget that as the tether was moving in space, it would attract charged particles – basic physics, but this fact seemed to have gone over the heads of the people who designed the experiment. A senior astronomer with the Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence (SETI) Institute, Dr Seth Shostak, has reported in an article published online that perhaps we should be seeking alien "life forms" that are thinking machines instead of concentrating the search on biological life forms.
Dr Shostak said current experiments aiming to locate extraterrestrial intelligence all assume it is most likely to be found on "habitable worlds" with liquid surface water and light gaseous atmospheres, in other words, worlds that could support life similar biochemically to that on Earth.
The problem with this assumption is that the development of artificial intelligence may come soon after the invention of communication technologies, as it has for us, which means SETI's targeted searches may be "chasing a very short-lived prey," Dr Shostak said. We have a chance of detecting extraterrestrial intelligences once they invent radio and go on the air, but within a few hundred years they are likely to invent their thinking machine successors.
[...] Dr Shostak suggested the search for artificial intelligence should focus for at least some of the time on places were matter and energy are plentiful, such as young, hot stars, or near the center of galaxies, since these places would be of more interest to intelligent machines, even though they would be inhospitable for biological life forms.
Comment: Oh...... how very interesting... it looks like the folks at SETI are now starting to get serious... If we trust pilots to carry us through the air safely, and to guard our nation’s skies, then why can't we trust what they tell us about their encounters with unidentified flying objects?
That's the question posed by investigative journalist Leslie Kean in her new book, "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record." It's a compelling question — but is it a good argument for the existence of something truly unexplainable?
The book's main themes are the extraordinary stories of strange aerial encounters in Europe, South America and even the United States. In these stories, investigators have failed to pinpoint phenomena to explain the sightings. And because the primary witnesses are pilots, the accounts are considered more credible than run-of-the-mill UFO reports. But are they really?
Kean asserts that pilots are the best describers of aerial phenomena. “They represent the world’s best-trained observers of everything that flies,” she writes. “What better source for data on UFOs is there?... [They] are among the least likely of any group of witnesses to fabricate or exaggerate reports of strange sightings.”
Comment: OK, I am surprised that this book is getting major MSM attention... good! Leslie Kean is a tough cookie and much kudos to her. Of course, the partyline is to pretend that nobody knows what these things are, but I can only suppose that some want scientists to spend the next 50 years investigating this phenomena at their leisure... It may look like an upside down rainbow, but a circumzenithal arc has been spotted in North Tyneside.
Rainbows occur by light refracting off raindrops falling in the sky, but the circumzenithal arc is created by refraction of light from ice crystals. These crystals are part of cirrus clouds which lie 15,000 - 16,000 kilometers high in the sky.
Unlike normal rainbows, only a quarter of the multi-coloured arc is formed as opposed to a full circle of a rainbow.
The circumzenithal arc, or Bravais' arc as it is also known, was spotted in Gosforth on Wednesday 25 August.

In the middle of an otherwise-peaceful British Airways flight from London to Hong Kong on Tuesday, a terrifying announcement blasted over the speakers. The automated message warned the 275 passengers to brace themselves, because the plane was about to crash into the sea. "We all thought we were going to die," one passenger said.
Flight attendants quickly reassured the traumatized passengers that the message was a mistake, and British Airways say they are investigating how the incident could have happened. (A similar incident happened in 1999, when a "mischievous passenger" pushed the automated crash message as a joke on a flight from San Francisco to London.) This is just the latest mishap to come to light in a wild week for airlines.
Comment: Sounds more like another electronic glitch... and blaming it on a passenger is dispicable, I mean how exactly could they activate an automated message? Fort Worth area resident Lisa Brock-Piekarski is a little freaked out by images she discovered on an infrared camera mounted at her family's favorite hunting spot. That's not because of the deer in the foreground but because of the mysterious lights in the background to the left of the animal.
"What I see looks almost like a Frisbee," Brock-Piekarski told Dallas-Fort Worth NBC affiliate KXAS-TV. "You see a several lights going around, and they're all symmetrical and lit up, and it just looks like an object in the sky."
While she hesitated calling it a UFO, Brock-Piekarski could not identify what might have caused the string of lights to appear in the photos, taken over a timespan of almost two hours.
Comment: This reminds me of the mysterious 'milk bottle' lights that appeared in the same Fort Worth area of Texas, when a gamer had set up cameras to monitor deer. This light phenomena was investigated by Linda Moulton Howe and her articles and images are now archived on her website at www.earthfiles.com, so you need a subscription to read the original version, a saved screen shot of one image with a caption has been saved here. Quite frankly, anomalous images of obviously interdimensional entities, should not be referred to as UFOs. The shrinking of the Earth's high outer atmospheric layer has been linked to a sharp drop in the sun's ultraviolet radiation levels. The research, led by scientists at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo., and the University of Colorado at Boulder, indicates that the sun's magnetic cycle, which produces differing numbers of sunspots over an approximately 11-year cycle, may vary more than previously thought.
Comment: The problem that scientists have is that the Space Age is only decades long and the longest records (sunspot info) held by the Chinese, are only a few thousand years old. However, since the Sun is billions of years old and operates in cycles, some of those cycles could be tens or even hundreds of thousands of years long, so obviously, scientists don't have any means to obtain this information. That is why some solar scientists have admitted that they also use ancient calendars and astrology to make some predictions. Thus the multi-billion dollar satellite communications industry is also subject to unknown [variations in] solar cycles and customers will have to get use to increasing levels of disruption from space weather, if we can keep the satellite infrastructure in orbit, and the way things stand with the high levels of space junk, that is debateable too. A Salt Lake City mortgage company employee allegedly got drunk, opened fired on his firm’s computer server with a .45-caliber automatic, and then told police someone had stolen his gun and caused the damage.
Joshua Lee Campbell, 23, has been charged in 3rd District Court with criminal mischief, a second-degree felony; carrying a dangerous weapon while under the influence and providing false information to police, both Class B misdemeanors; and public intoxication, a Class C misdemeanor.
Salt Lake County prosecutors say Campbell called police late on Aug. 12, claiming a man had stolen his gun and fired into the $100,000 computer server owned by RANLife Home Loans, located at 268 W. 400 South.
However, investigators allege that Campbell had been drinking that night at the Twilight Concert in Pioneer Park with a co-worker and had returned to his office afterward and shot the server.

AFTER 10 years of comparative slumber, the sun is waking up - and it's got astronomers on full alert.
This week several US media outlets reported that NASA was warning the massive flare that caused spectacular light shows on Earth earlier this month was just a precursor to a massive solar storm building that had the potential to wipe out the entire planet's power grid. NASA has since rebutted those reports, saying it could come "100 years away or just 100 days", but an Australian astronomer says the space community is betting on the sooner scenario rather than the latter.
Comment: This is not a particularly good article but people are reacting to the hype. Those who think NASA are being alarmist so they can secure more funding just don't have a clue. Rarely do these kind of articles explain that the citizens of Earth risk losing their solar system shielding, never mind the fact that Earth's magnetic field periodically simply vanishes on the daylight side, whilst we are being bombarded by galactic energies. Those of us who are watching the Earth's magnetosphere and then comparing it's condition to solar forcecasts and realtime data of solar and geomagnetic activity, realise that Earth is at times under a severe bombardment. So far, solar forecasters have got solar cycle 24 completely wrong so talk of the peak of the solar cycle in 2012 with activity that is off the charts, now seems extremely unlikely. However, there may be other cosmic events coming our way that NASA have been careful to underplay. Yes, we could get a bolt of cosmic lightning, but I don't think it will come directly from the Sun, but of course the Sun will be effected and the impact on Earth would be severe as NASA are prepared to admit. Brazilian scientists believe they have found a way of tapping electricity direct from the air - and preventing lightning strikes at the same time.
"Our research could pave the way for turning electricity
from the atmosphere into an alternative energy source for the future," said study leader Dr Fernando Galembeck of the University of Campinas. "Just as solar energy could free some households from paying electric bills, this promising new energy source could have a similar effect." Scientists have been unsure about whether an electrical charge is created when water vapor collects on microscopic particles of dust and other material in the air.
Galembeck and his colleagues have simulated this using tiny particles of silica and aluminum phosphate, both common airborne substances, and shown that silica became more negatively charged in the presence of high humidity and aluminum phosphate became more positively charged. "This was clear evidence that water in the atmosphere can accumulate electrical charges and transfer them to other materials it comes into contact with," Galembeck explained. "We are calling this 'hygroelectricity', meaning 'humidity electricity'." In the future, he says, it may be possible to develop collectors, similar to solar cells, to capture hygroelectricity and route it to homes and businesses.
Comment: Maybe, these scientists are looking for funding to continue their research. The problem with generating electricity is distribution. We are under threat by Space Weather that can literally knock out national power grids around the world in one major geomagnetic storm and our modern technological societies would be crippled as it would not be possible to replace damaged transformers etc quickly. Researchers at the University of Dundee have made a breakthrough in the study of magnetic fields, which enhances our understanding of how stars, including the Sun, work.
The team from the Magnetohydrodynamics research group in the School of Engineering, Physics and Mathematics used state-of-the-art computer simulations of evolving plasmas in the Sun’s atmosphere.
By following how the magnetic field and the plasma interact, they have uncovered new rules that govern what evolutions are possible. Knowing the basic rules behind the apparently complex solar atmosphere gives the team hope of predicting how it will behave.
Comment: Due to the ferocity of Space Weather, scientists have been forced to study the Sun-Earth connection which is essentially electromagnetic. To try and mitigate the damage to our satellites, radio communications systems and power grids, solar scientists have been galvanised into studying plasma physics. This is because the Sun is a huge ball of plasma, that exhibits how plasma is influenced by electric currents and magnetic and electric fields, with evidence of the influence of sound and geometry also controlling it's behaviour. A fire tornado caused by brush fires and strong winds has stopped motorway traffic as drivers in Brazil gawped at the rare phenomenon. The whirlwind of flames burned through fields beside the road in the northwest city of Aracatuba in Sao Paulo state. But, as quickly as it appeared, the roaring twister fizzled down and just a smouldering line in the land remained.
The firestorm followed a drought which has led to brush fires across Brazil. [...] Fire tornados, also known as fire whirls or fire devils, are rare and depend on certain air temperatures and currents to create a vertical, rotating column of air.
Comment: Another rare phenomena. Again, I don't even want to think about these becoming more common... At the beginning of this video, you can clearly see the fire as a double helix... but geoscientists still ignore this sign of electromagnetism, that especially relates to the behaviour of plasma in an intense magnetic field... More 'stings' from the Galactic Centre? Well the magnetosphere has been taking a hammering in the last few days, but we have not had any sunspots, sending solar flares or coronal mass ejections coming our way. The impact from the large coronal hole and an increase in the solar wind speed was expected to take effect on the 25th August (see spaceweather.com), some sources say 24th-26th, so I assume this means that on the 21st - 23rd, it was galactic energy slamming into the magnetosphere. On the 23rd, the density spike was off the charts, see Youtube Magnetosphere Movie 23rd August 2010. The NICT movies (Real-time Magnetosphere Simulation) that can be downloaded are each about 20MB. Anyway, we may have an answer in the outburst of XTE J1701-407 that has been termed a thermonuclear X-ray burster from a neutron star. It has not yet been classified as a Magnetar, even though it was first discovered in June 2008, and has been having regular episodes of bursting. The current outburst was first stated as lasting 100 secs, and was initially picked up and classified as a GRB, see alert link. A later incident report at Astronomer's Telegram states: "On 2010-08-22 00:56:19 the INTEGRAL Burst Alert System (IBAS) triggered on an event ((GCN 11132, Gotz & Ferrigno, 2009) from the known burst source XTE J1701-407." Here, it stated it lasted 3 minutes which is long time for an outburst from this type of object, see link. So, I await more expert opinion on what the Universe is blasting us with now, but the most interesting thing is that this source is in the region of the Galactic Centre...
Possible solution to mystery of the orbs [US] Door County Advocate, 25th August 2010 
A local DJ may have solved a weeks-old mystery of the bright orange orbs that were spotted by vacationing siblings earlier this month. Dan O'Hern (aka The Unknown DJ) e-mailed the Door County Advocate after the story ran, saying that the description of the Platt family's orange orbs matched that of sky lanterns he saw at a wedding in July. Sky lanterns are small, flame-retardant paper balloons that, when lit, take to the sky. If caught in a wind current, they can travel for as long as the fuel pack holds out. That can be up to 10 minutes. The lanterns are common overseas and, according to www.theskylantern.com, are also known as "khom fai" or "UFO balloons."
Comment: So the Americans are now blessing each other over and over again with this CHINESE tradition that signifies happiness and the hope for a bright future? The Chinese mainly celebrate with lanterns at the Chinese New Year, not all year round where crops can be set on fire and the wiring which remains of the structure can be a danger to cattle, hence the calls for a ban in the UK and Europe. Here, the opinion is that soon, people will just assume that if they see a bright orange globe[s] in the sky, it will be dismissed as a Chinese lantern[s], the only problem with this is that people are getting angry and frightened because some of these 'Chinese lanterns' are huge and appear similar to the brightness of flares, displaying the properties of an inertialess mass, by hovering and then shooting off at high speeds and then some are coming exremely close to people who then describe a variety of descriptions for what can be seen. These 'Chinese lanterns' bear no resemblence to a paper and wire construction, with a little candle for lighting, the fact that they are supposedly being set off in all weathers and often are seen travelling against the wind is also glossed over by skeptics. Then of course, matters are not helped by uninformed ufologists who are completely unaware of the existence of magnetospheric plasmoids or 'Unidentifed Aerial Phenomena' that scientists specialising in "light phenomena" have proven to exist. Bell-shaped UFO moves toward witness just 80 feet off ground [US] UFO Examiner, 23rd August, 2010 "A Washington witness near the Skagit River described a bell-shaped object just 80 feet off the ground that quickly disappeared on August 21, 2010... The witness described the object as about 6 to 7 feet wide, about 8 feet tall, with "amber color on top, blue in the middle and white on the bottom." "It kept coming right towards me then dipped down a bit and must of noticed me and that's when it disappeared," the witness stated. "From as bight as could be to nothing. It just disappeared." Now, this must be a special Chinese lantern with LED lights, but apparently the witness believes it is sentient as when he was noticed, the light blinked off. This assessment agrees with the U.S. military who have been trying to catch these bright lights for many many decades and have completely failed. It's a mystery that presented itself unexpectedly: The radioactive decay of some elements sitting quietly in laboratories on Earth seemed to be influenced by activities inside the sun, 93 million miles away. Hollywood director James Cameron challenged three high profile global warming skeptics to a public debate at a global warming and energy conference. But Cameron backed out of the debate at the last minute after environmentalists "came out of the woodwork" to warn him not to engage in a debate with skeptics because it was not in his best interest.
Cameron challenged Andrew Breitbart, Climate Depot's Marc Morano and filmmaker Ann McElhinney of 'Not Evil Just Wrong.' The debate was already in the program for the Aspen American Renewable Energy Day (AREDAY) summit. The website program described the agreed to debate as “AREDAY Climate Change Debate: Reality or Fiction?"
After setting up the public global warming debate, Cameron and his negotiator then changed formats multiple times and initially said it would be open to the media and then said he would only participate if it was private with no recording devices. The skeptics agreed to all the changes. According to AREDAY organizers, activist Joseph Romm of Climate Progress urged Cameron not to go ahead with the debate as well.
Cameron's cancellation of the agreed to debate did not happen until one debate participant (Morano) was already in mid-air, flying from DC to Aspen on Saturday August 21 to attend the debate.
Comment: I wasn't going to comment until I read that Marc Morano was actually in the air, flying to get to this debate when Cameron cancelled. Maybe, he was checking the facts and then got cold feet.... Do-Gooders Get Voted Off Island First: People Don't Really Like Unselfish Colleagues, Psychologists Find Science Daily, 20th August 2010 (late entry, will re-file) 
You know those goody-two-shoes who volunteer for every task and thanklessly take on the annoying details nobody else wants to deal with?
That's right: Other people really can't stand them.
Four separate studies led by a Washington State University social psychologist have found that unselfish workers who are the first to throw their hat in the ring are also among those that coworkers most want to, in effect, vote off the island.
"It's not hard to find examples but we were the first to show this happens and have explanations for why," said Craig Parks, lead author of "The Desire to Expel Unselfish Members from the Group" in the current Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
The phenomenon has implications for business work groups, volunteer organizations, non-profit projects, military units, and environmental efforts, an interest of Parks' coauthor and former PhD student, Asako Stone.
Parks and Stone found that unselfish colleagues come to be resented because they "raise the bar" for what is expected of everyone. As a result, workers feel the new standard will make everyone else look bad.
It doesn't matter that the overall welfare of the group or the task at hand is better served by someone's unselfish behavior, Parks said.
Comment: The whole article about this research is very interesting, but I think the basic premise applies to people who work hard too, (I personally don't think it makes them a do-gooder) because it puts the lazy ones in a difficult position. When I first worked in large companies, I was shocked to realise that some people did the absolute minimum they could get away with... Then there were some managers looking to empire build who would prefer a large team of incompetents than a small team with high productivity. Guess what? I was in a team that had consistently had the highest productivity rate in a very large in-house computing facility, but we still had one person who was completely useless (to the team), as she was only there because a higher-up wanted to promote her into management, where I am sure she would have become equally ineffective. Personally, I believe in "raising the bar" with the integration of science and metaphysics, because for those who are new to the message of my websites, our world is changing very quickly and the world has not been fully informed of the consequences. For much of the 19th century, a 16km stretch of the rocky Durham coastline between the rivers Wear and Tyne was notorious as a graveyard for shipping. From the 1860s, more than 160 vessels were wrecked after running aground on submerged rocks between Marsden and the village of Whitburn, just a mile from the shore.
The hazardous reputation of Whitburn Steel, as the rocks are known, worsened during the Industrial Revolution. Bulk cargos such as coal and iron ore were more easily moved by sea than rail and the demands of heavy industry in Tyneside led to a dramatic increase in coastal shipping. Smoke pollution from industrial cities like Sunderland added to the problems faced by vessels that hugged the coastline as they approached Tyneside from the North Sea.
These facts are not disputed, but the bizarre circumstances surrounding the sharp spike in the number of shipwrecks have now faded from living memory.

An air traffic control problem has hit hundreds of flights using northern European airspace. Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg were among the countries affected. The problem was centred on the Eurocontrol radar system, based at Maastricht in the Netherlands.
Eurocontrol later confirmed the system had returned to normal capacity, but said the backlog of flights would mean delays continuing into the evening.
Eurocontrol said "equipment problems" affected its air navigation services for flights in airspace above 7,500m (24,600 ft).
[...] Flights over western Europe had to be cut by a quarter during the failure, which lasted from 1315 to 1330 GMT, a Swedish official told Associated Press news agency.
Comment: Hmmm... there was also a problem in Greece on Sunday morning too. On August 20th at 18:22 UT, two
amateur astronomers in Japan independently recorded an apparent
impact on Jupiter. Masayuki Tachikawa of Kumamoto city was
first to report the event. His movie
of the fireball shows the fireball scintillating (twinkling)
along with other features on the planet -- persuasive evidence
that this is a genuine event on Jupiter. Soon after Tachikawa
made his report, Tokyo amateur astronomer Aoki Kazuo realized
that he had recorded the fireball, too:
The ~800 km separation of the two observers rules out an event near Earth and reinforces the association of the fireball with Jupiter. The most likely explanation: A small comet or asteroid hit the giant planet. This is the third time in only 13 months that amateur astronomers have detected signs of impact on Jupiter. Comment: OK, there is an alternative version that explains the apparent rush of fireballs or comets hitting Jupiter. Some have suggested that we are seeing eruptions and this video certainly strengthens this view. The issue now, is what is causing the eruptions? A new French report released on May 31, 2010 concluded that UFOs are definitely real and possibly of extraterrestrial origin. While not an official government study, the Progress Report of the Sigma/3AF Commission comes from a highly credible source, the Aeronautical & Astronomical Association of France, known as the 3AF, which established a Commission on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena back in May 2008. The Commission’s President is Alain Boudier, a former French Defense attaché, and one of its key members is Jean-Gabriel Greslé, a former fighter pilot who studied at the U.S. Air Force Academy and later became an airliner pilot with Air France, where he experienced a couple of UFO sightings. Greslé has published three UFO books in France, including Unidentified Flying Objects: An Airline Pilot Talks (Guy Trédaniel, 1993).
The Sigma/3AF is not a final report but just a work in progress document; nevertheless, it provides good background material on the history of official UFO research in France, a balance of Sigma’s work during the last two years, a brief description of the most significant French cases, and some comments and conclusions. The report begins with a brief history of French official UFO research, which is quite extensive: “France is the only country where the collection of Unidentified Aerospace Phenomena (PAN in French) and its scientific study have been assigned since 1977 to a civilian official organization, the CNES (National Center for Space Studies, the French space agency) through the GEPAN study group.” After a short description of this unit, now known as GEIPAN (Study and Information Group on Aerospace Unidentified Phenomena), the report outlines other official or quasi-official French studies, including the famous COMETA (Committee for In-Depth Studies) Report of 1999, issued by a group of high-ranking retired French military and intelligence officers, which concluded that UFOs were real and probably extraterrestrial. [...] In the Comments section, the Sigma/3AF report uses unambiguous language, for instance: “No natural phenomenon can account for the majority of observation reports accompanied by electromagnetic detections made by one or several radars. Both the defense services and air traffic control have been confronted a number of times around the world with unknown aerial intrusions or artificially induced phenomena.” Later on, the report goes on to say, “The behavior of these devices during encounters with fighter jets or interceptors – some have participated in real swirling battles in the U.S. – suggests they are controlled, guided or led by particularly sophisticated automation.” And then again, “the air superiority of the craft concerned, if they are indeed crafts, is such that none of the many interceptions which have been made against them, in the United States for example, have been able to overcome one of these devices.” Comment: The trickle of agencies around the world admitting the existence of UFOs is now becoming a flood and there is a good reason for that. Please note the caution here and the clear indication that military and civilian personnel think that the antics that have been displayed imply that these objects do not conform to the usual laws of physics. Thousands of Barclays customers in Britain were unable to access their bank accounts or withdraw money from cash machines on Saturday after a system crash caused chaos nationwide. The problems, which began at around 1:30 p.m. British time, hit telephone and online banking services and caused frustration at retail outlets as embarrassed shoppers were forced to abandon purchases at the till.
Barclays' telephone banking centres were inundated with calls from customers, many of whom were angry at the lack of information. A Barclays spokeswoman was unable to elaborate on the cause of the problems.
"We became aware of a problem earlier in the day," she said. "We apologise to customers for any inconvenience."
Comment: Barclays's had the same problem in June 2009, so I wonder if there is a more fundamental issue with software or hardware not dealing adequately with cosmic rays. (Having worked in IT, I cannot even contemplate that Barclays have such incompetent technicians running their operations, so I have disregarded the more mundane explanations like a system upgrade failure...) Torchio is intimately acquainted with the beasts that wander the nearly 600-square-mile (1500-square-kilometer) game reserve, so he was astonished to see a terrier's face poking out of the tall grass.
"I was wondering, what is this dog doing?" Torchio said. "And when it came out from the grass, that was a surprise."
The hirsute creature that emerged was clearly not a dog. The animal had all the markings of a Thomson's gazelle (a type of antelope) — but, like that old song from Sesame Street, one of these kids was not like the others. This animal was covered with a strange, thick coat of hair, in stark contrast to the sleek Thomson's gazelles in its company.

USA Today reports that as many as 1,300 people have already been sickened by the tainted eggs. According to a recent GAO report, companies recover only about 36 percent of targeted products in a typical recall. That means that literally millions of people stand just an undercooked egg or an unwashed hand away from a nasty case of salmonella.
But then William Neuman's New York Times piece hipped me to the name of the owner of Wright County Farms: one Austin "Jack" DeCoster. That's when my sigh became a gasp.
[...] The outrage here is not that Wright County Eggs has released nearly half a billion tainted eggs into the market, exposing untold numbers of people to sickness. DeCoster's record of abuse -- of people and the environment -- has taught anyone who's paying attention to expect such things from his operations.
The outrage is that regulatory authorities at both the state and national levels have allowed him to continue hiring workers and producing food as violations piled up.

The accounts manager says coins, safety pins, magnets, spanners and even a metal lid from a Vaseline pot can stay on her body for up to 45 minutes without falling off. When the pulse is at its strongest, she says she can even dance in her living room without them coming off.
For as long as she can remember, she explains, her body has set off car alarms, interrupted the TV signal and blown out light bulbs.

ORE mysterious sightings of UFOs have been reported in Calderdale - and now there's photographic evidence.
As reported in the Courier, a strange orange ball was seen in the sky earlier this month and reader Ian McGibbon captured the orange orb. He took the snap of the flaming night sky in Wheatley, Halifax, on Saturday, August 14.
More people have confirmed seeing the UFO stretching back to July 28 when Adrian Dawson saw the first glimpse while standing outside Arden Road Social Club, Savile Park. There was another sighting on the same day of two orange globes this time in Siddal by Coral Bairstow. Neil Lewins was in his back garden in Sowerby when he saw slow-moving orange object at 11.15pm on Friday August 6 and Mr Raine saw the object on the same day over Exley. Bodi Model saw five orange spheres over Northowram at 10.25pm Saturday, August 7. Imran Akram saw the object in Elland and travelling towards Halifax on August 8 at 10pm. All describe the orange UFO as hovering in the sky for a few moments before disappearing all of a sudden.
Comment: Yes, the veil is lifting, but it seems that the metaphysical community made no predictions that UFO sightings would dramatically rise, even though some metaphysicians understood that UFOs were interdimensional entities and had a basic scientific understanding back in the late 1940s and 1950s. In the past, there have been waves of UFO sightings (UFO flaps). This was caused by local conditions with enhanced aetheric levels due to geomagnetic storms unevenly distributing aether and other factors like UFOs using magnetic grid lines to navigate, so certain places have always been more prone to sightings. Now, with the massive acceleration of Space Weather, the whole planet is being swamped with aetheric energies and UFO sightings are rising in many different places at once, this should have been expected, but there does not seem to be a great level of understanding about the true nature of our reality. James Enstrom, an epidemiologist at the UCLA School of Public Health, was recently fired, because his research "is not aligned with the academic mission of the Department [of Environmental Health Sciences]."
Enstrom's crime? Not finding evidence that supports increased regulation by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). He also pointed out that a prized supporter of CARB, Hien T. Tran, has a fake Ph. D. This is particularly embarrassing because in December 2008, CARB approved diesel emissions rules based on Tran’s findings.
Enstrom is not the only one on the chopping block, so is Katy Grimes, an environmental health sciences professor at UCLA, whose has also spoken out against diesel regulations.
Assemblyman Dan Logue is defending the two, for what appears to be a clearly politicized firing.

MASON CITY- North Iowa farmers are puzzled by a curiously bountiful corn stalk growing in front of a restaurant in Mason City. The more than 5-foot-tall plant in front of the Wild Horse Western Cafe has 27 ears of corn on it. Usually a single corn stalk has two or three ears. Osage area farmer Don Ahrens says he has never seen or heard of anything like it. He says a genetic mutation might have caused it, but he's not sure.
Cafe owner Ilene Mittag said she got three plants from a Minnesota farmer in June when they were about a foot tall. Two grew up normally, but she said one went "out of control."
Comment: We now know that seeds can be modified by intense electric fields and that the new versions of these seeds that have been produced have proven to be a vast improvement. I can only see this as evidence that the morphogenetic fields have been upgraded and it is possible for DNA to harness this new genetic in formation, so we are seeing examples of these spontaneous and positive DNA mutations taking place. In the past few weeks Iran’s gas infrastructure, which is central to the country’s energy requirements, has been hit by a series of unexplained explosions.
The series of mysterious explosions began at the end of July when the state-owned Tehran Times reported that a pipeline carrying gas from Iran to Turkey had exploded near the eastern Turkish town of Dogubayazit. Iranian officials blamed the blast on Kurdish rebels.
This was followed earlier this month by reports in the Iranian press of an explosion in a gas pipeline on the outskirts of Tabriz. A few days later there was a more serious incident on August 4 when five people were killed when another gas pipeline exploded on the outskirts of the Pardis petrochemical plant. The explosion took place just a week after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had made an official visit to the complex. Finally, on August 10, a pipeline exploded in the city of Masjed Sleiman.
Comment: Maybe NOBODY is blowing up Iran's pipelines. Despite the political rumour making, pipelines are now blowing up in many different regions and the common factor is Space Weather that is generating telluric currents that corrode pipelines. This is a systemic problem and something that is a major inconvenience to those who want to maintain our current system of energy supply, despite the fact that 'clean energy' needs to be implemented to save the planet. The "magnetar" lies in a cluster of stars known as Westerlund 1, located 16,000 light years away in the constellation of Ara, the Altar.
Westerlund 1, discovered in 1961 by a Swedish astronomer, is a favoured observation site in stellar physics. It is one of the biggest cluster of superstars in the Milky Way, comprising hundreds of very massive stars, some shining with a brilliance of almost a million Suns and some two thousand times the Sun's diameter. The cluster is also, by the standards of the Universe, very young. The stars were all born from a single event just three and a half to five million years ago.
Within Westerlund 1 is the remains of one of galaxy's few magnetars - a particular kind of neutron star, formed from the explosion of a supernova, that can exert a magnetic field a million, billion times strong than Earth's.
The Westerlund star which eventually became the magnetar must have been at least 40 times the mass of the Sun, according to the study, which appears in the research journal Astronomy and Astrophysics. If so, intriguing questions are raised.
Comment: Now, the mainstream media are featuring Magnetars, that's good news as the planet is being blasted by massive blast of magnetic energy on a regular basis. Astronauts who spend months in space become as physically weak as 80-year-olds, a study has found.
Researchers in the US made the discovery after testing muscle tissue taken from crew members on the International Space Station (ISS). The calf biopsy samples revealed that after six months in orbit the physical work capacity of astronauts fell by 40 per cent. This was equivalent to the muscles of an astronaut aged 30 to 50 wasting away to the level of an average 80-year-old.

IT APPEARED in the skies over East Staffordshire and left witnesses baffled. he sight was so rare that few people in the UK have ever encountered one before.
What they saw was an anomaly of nature: the incredible spectacle of an upside down rainbow.

The phenomenon, which rarely occurs in non-Arctic conditions, is caused by sunlight bending when it hits crystals of ice floating five miles above the Earth.
The upside down rainbow is in fact so rare that Paul Gilliver, who has run Newhall Weather Station for the Met Office for the last 10 years, was unaware of the sighting.
The meteorologist said: “Upside down rainbows are very rare indeed.
“They are not something I have ever heard of or seen before, but to see one would be quite a spectacle.
“I presume the cause is the sunlight refracting as it passes through either water or ice in the sky.” There have, however, been some sightings of upside down rainbows before in the UK.
One was spotted by an astronomer as it appeared over Cambridge in September 2008.
Another was photographed in August 2009 over Sussex.

A bull jumped into the stands at a bullring in northern Spain injuring up to 40 people, according to officials.
It happened in Tafalla, when the animal leapt over the fence and climbed up the stairs of the stands, knocking people over.
[...] Spectators were watching a contest of "recortadores", where participants attempt to dodge the bull as it runs frantically around the arena. The incident comes as the country is split over whether bull fighting should be completely outlawed. Last month Catalonia became the first major Spanish region to ban the deadly sport.
Comment: Maybe, now a few more people will think about banning this tradition 'sport'. On a metaphysical level, I imagine that in the morphic field that belongs to the animal "bull" consciousness, there is quite a lot of resentment towards humans, so the odd bull going beserk should be no surprise. In Orange County woman walked into a breast cancer clinic with a tumor roughly the shape of her cell phone. She routinely carried the phone in her bra to improve her Bluetooth connection. The tumor was unusual, but her surgeon didn't think much of it. Then another woman came in with the same story. "Wouldn't you know it, a month later we have another lady come in," said Dr. John West, surgeon at the Breast Care and Imaging Center in Orange. "She has the same history. The cancer was located just directly under where she put her cell phone."
More than half the world's population has a cell phone. As people spend more hours talking, texting and carrying cell phones against their skin, some scientists and public officials are beginning to worry about the long-term effects of cell phone microwave radiation.
Comment: This same problem was encountered by UK police officers on traffic patrol who were guinea pigs for the TETRA communication system. Early on in the TETRA pilot before the full role-out, officers who had devices on their bodies had problems and a few died. The reponse from Dr Mireille Levy, the UK Home Office health and safety officer for the system at the time, was reported to have stated: 'Nothing will stop Tetra and if officers don't like it, they can resign.' link. VANCOUVER -- Reports have been flying in of an unidentified flying object hovering over Cultus Lake in Chilliwack, B.C. on Tuesday night. The story broke on The Fox's Jeff O'Neil Show Wednesday morning during their Open Phones segment.
'Dallas' called into the show to report that his girlfriend spotted some eerie lights flooding the pitch-black sky [insert Twilight Zone music here]. "At around 2 a.m., she saw some crazy-ass lights hovering over the lake," Captain Scotty of the Jeff O'Neil Show recalled to The Sun.
Then, the radio show received a text from 'Wally' in Chilliwack, saying he also saw the lights Tuesday night.
Comment: The "crazy ass lights" have been given a variety of names, one of which is "Unidentified Aerial Phenomena", which is name for a huge group of plasma entities that have ability to appear and disappear from our normal reality. They can often be detected by radar, even when not visible to the eye, such that radar operators and the military have been calling them the "radar angels" for about 70 years. Reports are increasing as we experience a dimensional shift as predicted by those who are aware of cosmic cycles and we experience The Greatest Transition In The History of mankind. Comment: To be honest, I am now starting to understand why the military have resisted telling the public the truth. Simply, it's not their job anyway, they are not metaphysicans. The UFO phenomena is complex and a mental challenge especially for scientists who do not want their mentality changing. The general public have a low level of education about science and this is more so for metaphysics, but many seem to want to believe the rather childish idea that UFOs represent spaceships or spaceprobes designed and built by humanoid aliens that come from advanced civilisations. Of course this is a very simplistic explanation and the real truth is far more disconcerting and complex for simple minded folk. Also, after my experience with a plastic shaman who was making claims that strongly implied they had no idea what the hell they were talking about, I am incredulous at the high levels of ignorance even within the metaphysical community. It turns out that critters so small that they can't be seen with the naked eye might affect the weather, and perhaps even climate.
As I pointed out last year, spacefaring bacteria might affect rainfall: In 2002, several scientists claimed that bacteria high in Earth's atmosphere came from space. Last year, scientists said that bacteria in the upper atmosphere may actually make rain. Specifically, they said that bacteria can freeze at fairly warm temperatures, so that the "biological ice nuclei" form condensation nuclei which triggers rain. Indeed, some scientists have speculated that bacteria cause rain as a means of transportation, so that they will "rain out" from the upper atmosphere to the surface of a planet. Now, scientists have discovered a "hibernating" bacteria in a salt mine in Utah which they believe has been in suspended animation for 250 million years. There is evidence that this ability to hibernate for long periods of time is also useful for travel through space by the bacteria:
Comment: Interesting article and highly indicative of the complexity of our environment and why computer models however complex cannot really compete with universal intelligence. Note the fact that any suggestion that Earth is not a closed system and can be affected by objects from space is usually shunned unless it is completely undeniable, so here (here it was stated that some scientists still don't want to accept that bacteria comes from space). remember it was only about one hundred years ago that many scientists refused to believe that rocks came from space. The information about "hibernating" bacteria is not knew and the discovery was ignored as it did not fit in with prevailing theory. MIAMI — Two new scientific reports Tuesday raised fresh fears about the environmental fallout from the world's worst offshore oil spill and questioned government assurances that most of the oil from the ruptured well in the Gulf of Mexico was already gone. In one of the reports, researchers at the University of Georgia said about three-quarters of the oil from BP's blown-out Macondo well was still lurking below the surface of the Gulf and may pose a threat to the ecosystem. Charles Hopkinson, who helped lead the investigation, said up to 79 percent of the 4.1 million barrels of oil that gushed from the broken well and was not captured directly at the wellhead remained in the Gulf. The report was based on an analysis of government estimates released on Aug. 2 that Hopkinson said had been widely misinterpreted as meaning that 75 percent of the oil spewed by the well had either evaporated, dissolved or been otherwise contained, leaving only about 25 percent.
"The idea that 75 percent of the oil is gone and is of no further concern to the environment is just absolutely incorrect," Hopkinson told reporters on a conference call. If your Monday is dragging on too long, you might try blaming it on cosmic rays. In a paper published Friday by the journal Geophysical Research Letters, physicists from Paris and Moscow propose that the high energy protons and nuclei might have a surprising influence on Earth's length of day. The team claims that a previously noticed relationship between fluctuations in the length of day and the 11-year solar-cycle are actually caused by cosmic rays.
One of the team members, Vincent Courtillot of the Institute of Geophysics of Paris, says they examined the length of day -- as defined by the speed of the earth's rotation in a reference frame fixed with respect to the stars -- using a series of daily values over a 40 year period. They claim that up to 30-percent of changes could be directly related to the 11-year sunspot cycle.

An accountant in Britain got so fed up with the 'wrong' weather forecasts of the national meteorological bureau, he has started predicting weather using his own equipment.
Simon Cansick, 47, decided to see if he could do better himself and bought his own weather station, positioned it on the roof and linked it to the internet, the Daily Mail reported Monday.
Cansick prepares his forecasts on his home computer and provides live information -- automatically updated every three seconds -- 24 hours a day.

A Colombian passenger plane crashed and broke up as it came into land on an island in the Caribbean, injuring 114 people, officials have said. One person died, apparently from a heart attack. The Boeing 737 was carrying 131 passengers and crew when it tried to land on the Colombian island of San Andres. The passenger jet, operated by local airline Aires, was reportedly hit by lightning before it crashed. It had flown from the Colombian capital, Bogota.
Col David Barrero from the Colombian Air Force said reports suggested the plane had crashed at 0149 (0649 GMT) and that "the skill of the pilot kept the plane from colliding with the airport".
Comment: Some are starting to comment about the no. of crashes. At the moment, even though it is clear that geomagnetic conditions are getting worse, some real work has to be done to determine this conclusively. What is worth noting is the table of statistics derived from the Aircraft Crashes Record Office (ACRO) based in Geneva. TORONTO — A group of central Ontario parents is demanding their children's schools turn off wireless Internet before they head back to school next month, fearing the technology is making the kids sick. Some parents in the Barrie, Ont., area say their children are showing a host of symptoms ranging from headaches and dizziness to nausea and even racing heart rates. They believe the Wi-Fi setup in their kids' elementary schools may be the problem. The parents complain they can't get the Simcoe County school board or anyone else to take their concerns seriously, even though the children's symptoms all disappear on weekends when they aren't in school. BOULDER—A new analysis of the unusually long solar cycle that ended in 2008 suggests that one reason for the long cycle could be a stretching of the Sun’s conveyor belt, a current of plasma that circulates between the Sun’s equator and its poles. The results should help scientists better understand the factors controlling the timing of solar cycles and could lead to better predictions.
The study was conducted by Mausumi Dikpati, Peter Gilman, and Giuliana de Toma, all scientists in the High Altitude Observatory at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), and by Roger Ulrich at the University of California, Los Angeles. It appeared on July 30 in Geophysical Research Letters. The study was funded by the National Science Foundation, NCAR’s sponsor, and by NASA's Living with a Star Program.
The Sun goes through cycles lasting approximately 11 years that include phases with increased magnetic activity, more sunspots, and more solar flares, than phases with less activity. The level of activity on the Sun can affect navigation and communications systems on Earth. Puzzlingly, solar cycle 23, the one that ended in 2008, lasted longer than previous cycles, with a prolonged phase of low activity that scientists had difficulty explaining.
Comment: The Sun's magnetic field which is related to solar activity, usually provides a major defence against cosmic, galactic and intergalactic energy penetrating through to Earth. Comment: More confirmation! I simply can't believe that this has been made up. This person knows who 'The Ancestors' represent and she says that the very last thing on the prophecy list BEFORE the Great Change and that is the Light Beings and great energies returning to our planet. Haiti earthquake caused by new fault line The devastating earthquake that rocked Haiti in January was unleashed by a previously undetected fault line – not the well-known one initially blamed, according to an analysis of new data. Its unclear how dangerous the new, unmapped fault might be or how it's discovery changes the overall earthquake hazard risk for Haiti, said Eric Calais, a professor of geophysics at Purdue University in Indiana.
He said the analysis shows that most, if not all, of the geologic movement that caused January's magnitude-7.0 earthquake occurred along the newly uncovered fault, not the well-documented Enriquillo fault.
He said that suggests Haiti's seismic zone is far more complex than scientists had anticipated.
But the new fault's profile, including the possibility that it merges with the Enriquillo fault at some depth, won't be known until scientists intensively study the region.
"If there are other faults capable of producing earthquakes besides the Enriquillo and this new one we need to know about them. We need to go after them," he said.
Comment: I am pleased to see this new analysis, as I have had some serious doubts about the conspiracy talk swirling about the internet, that implies the Haiti earthquake was induced by HAARP. Simple observation alone should be enough to dismiss these theories, as huge orbs of light were being filmed coming out of the ground before the quake and this is a reliable indicator (noted over hundreds of years) that electrical energies have built up in the rocks to such an extent that interdimensional entities (usually referred to as light phenomena or even quakelights) decide that enough is enough and they get out! People high in trust were more accurate at detecting the liars—the more people showed trust in others, the more able they were to distinguish a lie from the truth. The more faith in their fellow humans they had, the more they wanted to hire the honest interviewees and to avoid the lying ones. Contrary to the stereotype, people who were low in trust were more willing to hire liars and they were also less likely to be aware that they were liars.
Comment: The results are no surprise to me! However, I think the concept of trust here is misplaced. If you are a liar and distrustful about everything and everyone then there is NO ability to be able to detect goodness and this explains why warped people can't tell the difference between liars and non liars. Simply, if you are honest and decent and are looking for honest decent people, then often, warning bells go off loud and clear when those that don't match this requirement appear. This understanding also helps with those who immediately start mudslinging for no apparent reason, it's a clear indication that these people are problematic, these are the manipulators who should be avoided. The Paulding Light also known as "The Dog Meadow Lights" have been a mystery in Upper Michigan for over 40 years. To this day you can see them on almost any night! Personally I first witnessed this strange light in february of 1999, and to my surprise the ghost light moved towards us floating in mid air and it looks exactly as if someone was carrying a lantern.
As it started to get closer to us it would vanish and start all over again each time moving towards us faster and FASTER! There are some haunting legends for this phenomenon for example, some say one night around forty years ago, a railroad switchman while holding his lantern was crushed to death between two cars while trying to signal the engineer. Others say that an engineer was murdered along the old railroad grade that runs parallel to the road the light appears. Another story tells about a man out late one night carrying a lantern looking for his lost little boy in the woods. Supposedly, the man was hit by a train and his ghost continues to search for his son! Some people even have claimed to have seen the "GRIM REEPER" floating across the road near the light!! Skeptics say it is nothing more then car lights in the distance or glacier gas. But no matter what it is, you are still fascinated and spooked while viewing this bizzare light as it starts walking towards you!! I ended up using these clips in my movie by the same name.
Comment: Mysterious lights are nothing new, the difference is that in decades and centuries past, they were only seen by a few and very much localised to backwater locations, but since the energy levels of the whole planet has increased over the last twenty something years, they are now becoming visible to the many and are now being seen in metropolitan areas. A UFO sighted over Cyprus last week is just one in a recent spate of unidentified flying objects to have appeared over the island in the past two years. The UFO was seen to move from Turkish-controlled Famagusta to Protaras, surprising families on their holidays in Ayia Napa, Dherinya and Oroklini. With several dozen sightings in the past two years alone, they’re fast becoming a staple of Cypriote holidays.

Adam Keiper at National Review's The Corner stumbles upon human-genome-sequencer J. Craig Venter "pooh-pooh[ing] the scientific achievement that helped catapult him to international celebrity." In a rather lively interview with Der Spiegel, the biologist-businessman takes a few swings at his former rivals and estimates the "medical benefits" of the Human Genome Project at "close to zero to put it precisely."
Just as concerns regarding the sequencing were ill-founded, Venter argues, so were the hopes. "I can tell you from my own experience. I put my own genome on the Internet. People had the notion this was the scariest thing out there. But what happened? Nothing." Why was that? Because, he explains, we're just no good at reading the genome yet. "We couldn't even be certain what my eye color was. Isn't that sad?" He asks. Der Spiegel pushes back at Venter, with interesting results:
Comment: Well, here we have a little bit of honesty. The publicly funded Human Genome Project cost 4.5 billion dollars over the years 1988-2003, but according to this account, it was a waste of money and effort. Quite frankly, it's nice to know that the Universe has the upper hand and that geneticists have NO ability to tamper with DNA, as DNA requires an environmental component that modifies DNA according to Universal directives. What's interesting is that humans don't have more DNA than a worm with no brain, (about 19,000 genes) which emphasises that there could be other regulatory processes are at work. It's also known that there is more than one set of DNA in the human body, a fact that was overlooked by most experts for many years. Caught in the center of the controversy is the beleaguered taxpayer funded National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). NOAA’s Program Coordinator, Chuck Pistis has now confirmed that the fast spreading story on the respected climate skeptic blog is true.
However, NOAA spokesman, Program Coordinator, Chuck Pistis declined to state how long the fault might have gone undetected. Nor would the shaken spokesman engage in speculation as to the damage done to the credibility of a decade’s worth of temperature readings taken from the problematic ‘NOAA-16’ satellite.

World-renowned Canadian climatologist, Dr. Timothy Ball, after casting his expert eye over the shocking findings concluded, “At best the entire incident indicates gross incompetence, at worst it indicates a deliberate attempt to create a temperature record that suits the political message of the day.”

If this story is true, there is going to be a lot of extremely shocked climate scientists, nevermind the global warming alarmists that have always considered satellite data as the gold standard. Cloud fields organize in such a way that their components ‘communicate’ with one another and produce regular, periodic rainfall events.”

The scientists say that their findings point to a significant influence of particulate matter, or aerosols, on the large-scale structure of clouds and therefore on climate change. These images remind me of Cymatics -- the study of visible sound and vibration and experiments that consist of vibrating sand or cornsand etc and the patterns that emerge when different frequencies are applied. Speaking about the likelihood of climate bill being passed by Congress in 2010, Al Gore told a conference call of supporters tonight that, “this battle has not been successful and is pretty much over for this year.” Gore bitterly denounced the Senate and federal government stating several times, “The U.S. Senate has failed us” and “The federal government has failed us.” Gore even seemed to blame President Obama by emphasizing that “the government as a whole has failed us… although the House did its job. [emphasis added]”

A man drove himself to hospital after being shot in the head in the Hunter Valley yesterday evening.
The 37-year-old was wounded during a confrontation on Wollombi Road, Muswellbrook about 7.30pm, police said. He hid in an Allyn Way house, before heading to Muswellbrook Hospital for treatment. He was flown to John Hunter Hospital and is in a stable condition. Police said they searched the area but no one was arrested and no weapons were found.
Comment: Wow! This is on par with the women who made a cup of tea for the police when they arrived after she had been shot in the head, but the bullet had passed through and miraculously she survived to make lots more cups of tea! Brazil govt to record UFO sightings AAP, 12th August 2010 
Brazil is now to officially record any UFO sightings in its vast airspace and make the information available to researchers, according to a government decree published this week.
The text calls on military and civilian pilots and air traffic controllers to lodge any experiences with unidentified flying objects with the Aerospace Defence Command in Brasilia along with any material proof by way of photos or video.
That evidence will be catalogued at the air force's Historic Documentation Centre in Rio de Janeiro state, where it will be made available to searchers of extraterrestrial life and other people interested.
The decree, dated Monday and published on Tuesday, was signed by air force chief Juniti Saito.
"Air force command does not have the specialised structure needed to carry out scientific investigations on these aerial phenomena and will only register the events," the air force said in a statement sent to the newspaper O Dia.
A military air controller in Rio told the daily that respectable witnesses have previously recounted experiences with UFOs.
"There are reports by ministers and even a president who saw a UFO," he said.
Comment: It seems that senior Brazilian military officials and UFO researchers have won the battle with the government over the importance of making the existence of Aerial Phenomena "official". AN OIL spill at Kings Wharf, San Fernando, yesterday left scores of fishermen counting their losses as thousands of fishes, nets and their clothing were covered in what is suspected to be crude oil.
Frustrated fishermen said the oil began to surface at sea on Monday morning and continued to worsen late yesterday evening.
“We came out as normal Monday morning to fish. Some of us went out into the waters and were forced to turn back. We could not continue to fish, because our entire boat was covered with black oil and the fishes we caught were also covered in oil..” fisherman Aziz Mohammed, 39, of Vesingny explained.
He further explained that he and all other fishermen were forced to pack up and return home. “We had to return home, and now to come back today (Tuesday) and the situation is worse. It is like more oil has surfaced. Look at my clothes, it is covered in black oil.” Mohammed, said.
[...] Fishermen however, are claiming that the oil was emanating from the LABDICO Industrial near La Brea as the direction of the wind had recently changed its course to the western direction. “There is a leak somewhere underground at LABDICO, and due to the west winds the oil has surfaced in South instead of Point Fortin,” the fisherman said.
Meanwhile, along the Guapo/Cap-de-Ville main road in Point Fortin, residents awoke to the sight of black oil surrounding a fire hydrant. The residents in the area said yesterday was not the first time oil has surfaced above. “For years this has been happening at that particular location. The oil always comes up and forms a pool, then it is covered with sand and the oil slowly disappears.”the resident said. The area was yesterday cordoned off with caution tape.
Comment: OK, something major is going on... pipeline explosions, oil well blowouts, natural seeps and tanker collisions are accelerating and very quickly... As I've previously reported, a senior EPA policy analyst says that NOAA and the EPA have been "sock puppets" for BP.
NOAA has repeatedly denied the existence of underwater oil plumes (see this and this), calculated the spill to be only 5,000 barrels a day, and buried core data on the oil spill. Now, university scientists have revealed the NOAA used strong-arm tactics to try to silence any information on underwater plumes. As the St. Petersburg Times reports:

The thick blanket of acrid smog caused by relentless wildfires which has settled across the Russian capital has shown no sign of dispersing.
Forest and peat blazes continue to devastate large swathes of Central Russia, with a record-breaking heat wave forecast to go on until at least next week.

The interviewer who brings up 2012 and predictions of poles shifts is not given any solace from the scientist, but it looks like the 2012 disaster hype is in full swing in Russia too! Interestingly, there is talk of those who won't make the fourth dimension, but quite frankly I think the fourth dimension is already here in some parts of the world. However, to be fair, we can't rule out a huge bolt of electromagnetic energy hitting Earth and reversing the magnetic poles. This is because some Mayan Elders are now making it very clear that a "magnetic vortex" is on it's way, but they will not give an arrival date. Imagine this sight: Your JetBlue flight has just touched down at your destination when a flight attendant takes to the public address system, drops the F-bomb, pops the emergency door and exits the plane via the emergency slide. We're really hoping someone out there has video footage of this incident that went down at JFK Airport today.
The flight from Pittsburgh to NYC had just arrived when the attendant found himself involved in a verbal altercation with a passenger. Here's how the NY Times describes the scene:

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Tuesday took part in extinguishing forest fires in Ryazan Province on board an amphibious firefighting airplane.
The Russian head of government was the co-pilot for half an hour aboard a Be-200 plane scooping up water from the nearby Oka River and dumping it on raging forest fires some 200 kilometers southeast of Moscow.
He dumped approximately 12 tons of water on each of two fires, extinguishing both completely.
Putin initially sat in the cabin in front of a thermal imaging monitor together with Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu and Ryazan Governor Oleg Kovalev.
However, shortly after takeoff Putin suddenly entered the cockpit and sat in the co-pilot's seat.

Normally the jet stream is a giant loop of high speed winds that whip round the upper atmosphere, writes science correspondent Tom Clarke. The jet stream isn't involved in day to day weather - it's too high up - but because it pushes the atmosphere around it's very important in steering large scale weather patterns below. The stream has split in two. One arm has gone north, another south. The patch in the middle is Russia's drought. A circulating pattern of air has been sitting over Russia for far longer than normal, causing the extreme temperatures and wildfires they've had there. But what's happening over Pakistan is even stranger. The southern arm of the Jet stream has looped down so far it has crossed over the Himalayas into north western Pakistan. Experts at the Met Office tell me this is very unusual. And the result is that the fast moving jets stream winds high up has helped suck the warm, wet, monsoon air even faster and higher into the atmosphere - and that has caused rains like no-one can remember. It has turbo charged the monsoon if you like. They're not sure that's ever happened before. Comment: At the moment, scientists have been suggesting that the changing Jet Streams are a result of global warming, but since there has been no real evidence of warming, the constant extreme weather could be indicative of sudden climate change. In April 2008, the Carnegie Institution for Science released a report that stated: Stanford, CA—The Earth’s jet streams, the high-altitude bands of fast winds that strongly influence the paths of storms and other weather systems, are shifting—possibly in response to global warming. Scientists at the Carnegie Institution determined that over a 23-year span from 1979 to 2001 the jet streams in both hemispheres have risen in altitude and shifted toward the poles. The jet stream in the northern hemisphere has also weakened. These changes fit the predictions of global warming models and have implications for the frequency and intensity of future storms, including hurricanes. [...] "The poleward shift in their average location discovered by the researchers is small, about 19 kilometers (12 miles) per decade in the northern hemisphere, but if the trend continues the impact could be significant. “The jet streams are the driving factor for weather in half of the globe,” says Archer. “So, as you can imagine, changes in the jets have the potential to affect large populations and major climate systems.”Since scientists believe that the Jet Streams are narrow currents of air that snake the globe, but never explain how this effect is created, we have to assume that in reality we are seeing electric currents that react on a daily basis to incoming electrical energy from the cosmic environment. MUMBAI: A foreign cargo ship, which collided with another vessel about 10 km off Mumbai harbour, tilted further spilling oil for the third day today as Navy and Coast Guard made hectic efforts to contain the leak. " MSC Chitra has tilted 80 degrees and the total oil spill is nearly 50 tonnes, Arun Singh, Commandant (Operations), Coast Guard said. He said so far, 300 containers carrying oil have tumbled into the water. A worried Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said, "This is a serious issue. We have already filed cases against the captains of the two ships which are from abroad. Today, I am going to have an aerial look at the accident site"

Prominent oil investor Matt Simmons died of a heart attack last night at his home in North Haven, Maine, according to police reports. The famed energy banker was a prominent proponent of peak oil theory, and most recently got attention for his dire calls about the fate of the Gulf of Mexico. The debate about the effect of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill -- he thought it would be cataclysmic -- lead him to split with his old firm, Simmons & Co., of which he was the chairman emeritus.
His legacy will no doubt be his work on peak oil and resource scarcity.

Stephen Hawking has warned that unless the human race colonises space within the next two centuries it will disappear forever.
The famous astrophysicist says that our only chance for long-term survival is to move away from Earth and begin to inhabit new planets. In an interview with website Big Think, Hawking said he was an ‘optimist’ but the next few hundred years had to be negotiated carefully if the human race is to survive.
He said: 'I see great danger for the human race. There have been a number of times in the past when survival has been a question of touch and go. The Cuban missile crisis in 1963 is one of these.
‘The frequency of such occasions is likely to increase in the future. We shall need great care and judgment to negotiate them all successfully.’
‘But I am an optimist. If we can avoid disaster for the next two centuries our species should be safe as we spread into space.’
Earlier this year, Hawking warned that humans should be wary about trying to make contact with other alien lifeforms in space as we could not be sure that they would be friendly.
‘If we are the only intelligent beings in the galaxy we should make sure we survive and continue.’
Comment: Well, well, well, it looks like Hawking is channelling James McCanney. Who is James McCanney? Well, he can be described as one of NASA's greatest enemies because of his indepth understanding of how the Universe works. In my opinion, McCanney's greatest quote is: "NASA couldn't put a mouse into space". I laugh every time I think of that phrase. Anyway, this article is a load of wishful thinking. Over 1 million fish and thousands of alligators, turtles, dolphins and other river wildlife are floating dead in numerous Bolivian rivers in the three eastern/southern departments of Santa Cruz, Beni and Tarija. The extreme cold front that hit Bolivia in mid-July caused water temperatures to dip below the minimum temperatures river life can tolerate. As a consequence, rivers, lakes, lagoons and fisheries are brimming with decomposing fish and other creatures.
Unprecedented: Nothing like this has ever been seen in this magnitude in Bolivia. Inhabitants of riverside communities report the smell is nauseating and can be detected as far as a kilometer away from river banks.

Environmental activist Jerry Cope has spent the last few weeks traveling along the Gulf Coast and experiencing firsthand the contamination in the air and water. In an article published on Huffington Post, Cope argues that instead of celebrating the allegedly vanishing oil, we should be concerned about the disappearance of marine life in the Gulf. He describes the Gulf as a “kill zone” and looks into where the marine animals have gone, given that BP has reported a relatively low number of dead animals from the spill.

U.K. betting shops slashed the odds that either Prime Minister David Cameron or U.S. President Barack Obama would admit the existence of aliens within a year from 100-1 down to 80-1, The Daily Telegraph reported Friday.
One British company reported a surge of people willing to wager on whether there was extraterrestrial life after claims were published that Churchill ordered the coverup out of fear of public panic and loss of faith in religion.
"We have had loads of calls. There are thousands of believers out there many of whom are putting their money on an imminent announcement," a spokesman for the William Hill odds-making outfit said.

THE people of West Lothian are being urged to watch the sky after a string of reports of unidentified flying objects in the area. UFO website forums across the country have been flooded with reports of strange sights seen in the night skies above Whitburn, Bathgate and Livingston in the past month.
One reader phoned the Courier to describe “strange orange lights” he had seen in the sky over Whitburn last week.
The man said he was walking back from the Hillcroft Hotel up to Gleneagles Court with his wife when he saw two triangular orange lights above them. He said: “They looked like they were moving from the Falkirk area to Edinburgh, almost like they were following the route of the M8. They were moving quite quickly but they didn’t make any sound. They would reach a particular point then they would turn black.
Comment: Lots more sightings of these strange fiery lights and other strange objects, but even if the authorities ban Chinese lanterns, sightings will NOT disappear because these lights and objects are plasma entities and their appearance is associated with the dimensional shift that is now taking place planet wide. MOSCOW — Planes were diverted from Moscow airports on Friday after huge peat and forest fires blanketed the capital in acrid smoke, forcing some businesses to close and office workers to wear surgical masks at their desks.
Pollution surged to five times normal levels in the city of 10.5 million, the highest sustained contamination since Russia's worst heat wave in more than a century began a month ago. Officials urged Muscovites to not venture outdoors.
"Looking at the overall duration (of the pollution), today's smoke level is the worst yet," said Alexei Popikov, an expert on air quality at Moscow's state-run pollution monitoring agency.

The Northern lights, it seems, have moved further south and have been visible from countries including Germany and Denmark. So what exactly is causing this spectacle? And how long will it last?
Comment: Well, someone is asking a very pertinent question! The same question could be asked about why noctilucent clouds are being seen further south too. Anyway, the article does not answer the question posed, as this is a great source of anxiety to space weather scientists who realise that Earth's protection against Space Weather is quickly getting weaker and weaker. The CMEs that were generated by the complex solar eruption on the Sun that took place on the 1st August, were not even categorised to generate a major geomagnetic storm, and apparently we only had a 'decent' geomagnetic storm, but the impact was the same as major geomagnetic storms that we have experienced in the past when auroras are pushed down farther south. The only conclusion we can come to is that the Earth's magnetic field is not offering the same resistance to external magnetic fields as it did in the past. Comment: Most of these mutations or types of mutations have been documented on this website but the cow with a pig snout is worthy of some serious thought. Yes, two heads or two faces, extra legs etc can be easily explained away, but a cow acquiring pig DNA to generate a snout (comparable to the piglet with a monkey head) is starting to look like some serious mixing up of DNA and is exactly what we should expect at times of evolutionary change. A Minnesota man who spent nearly 2½ years in prison for a fatal Toyota crash walked free Thursday, after a judge ordered a new trial and a prosecutor said she wouldn't prolong the case reopened in the wake of the carmaker's widely publicized sudden acceleration problems. Koua Fong Lee, 32, of St. Paul, jumped up and hugged his attorney after Ramsey County District Judge Joanne Smith said she had seen enough new evidence to warrant a retrial. Soon after, county attorney Susan Gaertner said there wouldn't be one.
"I think it's time to bring this very sad situation to a close," Gaertner said.
Lee's wife, Panghoua Moua, sobbed when the judge announced her decision. The couple has four children, ages 8, 5, 3 and 2, and Moua said her husband barely knows the youngest two because of his time in prison.
Comment: This is especially interesting after Toyota is claiming that drivers don't know the difference between the brake and the accelerator. Well, I have to agree that the judge has made the right decision. Unfortunately, it's sad that innocent people have been killed and others placed in prison for a bad design fault within electronics, which is being exacerbated by the changing environment of increased cosmic rays. At dusk about 8 pm, three "suns" suddenly appeared and illuminated the sky above Leshan City, Sichuan Province, lasting for about 10 minutes on July 26, Sichuan News reported.
"This remains a mystery and needs a comprehensive analysis," said Professor Wang Sichao, a researcher of the Purple Mountain Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The "suns" attracted plenty of attention. According to photographer Lu Shan, the objects first appeared in the west. After about ten minutes, the objects moved northward and their diameter gradually narrowed.
"As they faded, they were moving like the sunset, and the light was quite gentle," Lu said.
Some people talked of a UFO invasion, but Lu, after conducting some informal research, believes it's a type of reflection from the sun or another strange phenomenon.
According to Wang, a sundog, or known scientifically as a perihelion, is a common bright circular spot on a solar halo. It's an atmospheric optical phenomenon primarily associated with the reflection or refraction of sunlight by small ice crystals making up cirrus or cirrostratus clouds.
However, the professor added that on that night the region shouldn't have had any sundogs.
"It's quite strange," Wang said.
He suggested that more photos taken from different areas and more witness reports are needed to solve the mystery.
Comment: Well, they do look like 'Suns'.... When I first saw this report with pictures, I thought it was an unbelievable 'bad' photoshopped image, but now Chinese astronomers are investigating, so the initial reports were real. Since we have had many reports of sundogs that I do think are genuine, strange 'apparitions' that may or may not be plasma entities add to the confusion associated with a growing list of strange atmospheric effects. Sir Winston Churchill was accused of covering up a close encounter between an RAF aircraft and a UFO during the Second World War, newly-released files reveal today.
The former prime minister allegedly ordered that the unexplained incident over the east coast of England should be kept secret for at least 50 years because it would provoke 'mass panic'.
The claim, made by a scientist who said his grandfather was one of Churchill's bodyguards, is recounted in declassified Ministry of Defence UFO files made available online by the National Archives.
Allegations of the cover-up emerged when the man, from Leicester, wrote to the government in 1999 seeking to find out more about the incident.
He described how his grandfather, who served with the RAF in the war, was present when Churchill and US General Dwight Eisenhower discussed how to deal with the UFO encounter.
The man, who is not named in the files, said Churchill was reported to have exclaimed: 'This event should be immediately classified since it would create mass panic amongst the general population and destroy one's belief in the church.'
Comment: This is a cover story for latest release of UK UFO files and it seems the media loves to remind the public about Winston Churchill and his interest in UFOs. Skywatchers in the UK will get a second chance to witness the Northern Lights tonight after missing out on the spectacular sight last night. Parts of northern America, in particular the state of Michigan, were lucky enough to be given clear skies last night and managed to catch the incredible display. And David Gavine, the director of the British Astronomical Association's Aurora division, said that there is every chance the UK might be able to see similar views tonight after Denmark enjoyed some wonderful views last night. The sighting in Denmark is significant because it is on much the same geomagnetic latitude as the UK, which determines how far south the aurora is visible. 'So there's every chance, if the skies are clear that we might see something tonight, ' Mr Gavine said. Even though northern states like Michigan are far further south than the UK they are still more likely to see the Northern Lights. Comment: Stunning! In the 1970s, Karl Popper came up with a philosophical theory of reality that involved three interacting worlds: the physical world, the mental world, and "world 3", which comprises all products of the human mind - from ideas, pictures and music to every word ever written.

Djorgovski reckons that before long, being online will soon mean (among other things) not staring at a computer screen but being immersed in 3D virtual reality.
He thinks this will be key to how we'll make scientific discoveries in the future. Forget graphs - two dimensions are totally inadequate for dealing with the vast amounts of data pouring out of everything from high-throughput genome sequencing to atom smashers like the Large Hadron Collider. We'll need machine intelligence capable of analysing these huge data sets, he says, as well as ways to visualise and interact with the results in three dimensions.
Comment: I wonder if Karl Popper hijacked the ideas of Vladimir Vernadsky and Teilhard de Chardin, with their concept of the Noosphere that has now been appropriated to explain the existence of the internet. Since Chardin wrote 'The Phenomenon of Man' (Le Phénomène Humain) in 1955 that became an instant hit in intellectual circles, I would be amazed if Popper had not been influenced. Well, when I was at University, the internet was still something foreign! More than three dozen of America's wealthiest individuals and families have joined Bill Gates and Warren Buffett in agreeing to give away at least half their fortunes to charity.
The announcement was made Wednesday by The Giving Pledge, an effort officially launched by Gates and Buffett earlier this year to persuade the richest people in America to commit to giving the majority of their wealth to the philanthropic causes and charitable organizations of their choice, either during their lifetime or after their death.
In addition to Buffett and Gates — America's two wealthiest individuals, with a combined net worth of $90 million, according to Forbes — 38 other billionaires are taking the give-it-away pledge. They include New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, entertainment executive Barry Diller, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, energy tycoon T. Boone Pickens, media mogul Ted Turner, David Rockefeller, film director George Lucas and investor Ronald Perelman.
"We’ve really just started, but already we’ve had a terrific response,” Buffett, co-founder and chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, said in a statement. “At its core, the Giving Pledge is about asking wealthy families to have important conversations about their wealth and how it will be used.

Many have been asking about the current state of the previously gushing BP Oil Well at the Macondo Prospect in the Gulf of Mexico. The following questions have been coming fast and furiously since the well was capped. Is it still leaking at the wellhead? Has the wellhead been pierced? Are there other wells leaking in the region? Are there methane seeps in the area around the well? Are there other leaks in the area coming from this well? Has the well been breached? Is it beyond repair? How deep are the leaks and breaches?

It's taking a long time to get a clear picture of what has been taking place and the nuclear option might have been already utilised for all we know, but it's now become clear that a "dog and pony show" has been taking place. This has been fairly well established now with documents available in the public domain and GPS measurements of where these wells are located. Comment: Yes, there were plenty of crop circles in late July, but I am particularly fascinated with this formation reported today. There are no comments or field reports here yet, so I will offer my opinion. I believe that this is how Einstein's theory of general relativity is usually depicted; a mass generating a deformation in spacetime that generates the force of gravity. The imagery often used is a ball deforming a rubber sheet, see example here. Since the crop circle makers have been emphasising over many years now the changes in the fabric of spacetime due to space weather, it's particularly interesting that this formation should appear at the expected arrival time of a massive blast of plasma energy in the form of a coronal mass ejection (CME) from the Sun, especially as the international community of solar physicists have been amazed by the nature of this solar eruption. Researchers discovered that the way people judge others says as much about their own mental wellbeing as it does about the person they are describing. The more likely people are to see others as happy, kind-hearted and emotionally stable is often a reflection on how happy, kind hearted and emotionally stable they feel. [...]
They discovered particularly strong associations between positively judging others and how enthusiastic, happy, kind-hearted, courteous, emotionally stable and capable the person describes oneself and is described by others. "Seeing others positively reveals our own positive traits," Prof Wood says. The study also found that how positively you see other people shows how satisfied you are with your own life, and how much you are liked by others.
In contrast, negative perceptions of others are linked to higher levels of narcissism and anti-social behaviour. "A huge suite of negative personality traits are associated with viewing others negatively," Prof Wood said. "The simple tendency to see people negatively indicates a greater likelihood of depression and various personality disorders."
Comment: Sorry, I have long ago given up naively seeing the best in others, because I have been disappointed too many times. These days I take a neutral stance, ie. I give people enough rope and see what they do with it. That way, I feel much more comfortable watching to see what happens and it severely reduces the disappointment. Attention, Earthlings: The sun is spewing plasma toward you, and the results could be beautiful.
Stargazers looking to the sky late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning could see northern lights, or aurorae. According to the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, the potential light show started Sunday, when the sun's surface erupted and hurled tons of ionized atoms -- or plasma -- into space.

"This eruption is directed right at us, and is expected to get here early in the day on August 4th," said astronomer Leon Golub of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA). "It's the first major Earth-directed eruption in quite some time."

Three specks of matter captured by the NASA spacecraft Stardust may be stardust that has just entered our solar system. "They have all the hallmarks of interstellar dust," said Andrew Westphal of the Space Sciences Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley.
Dr. Westphal reported the first speck in March, and he described the second and third on Friday at a meeting of the Meteoritical Society in Manhattan. Each speck is about one-25,000th of an inch across.
The third is particularly intriguing. It is rich in carbon, raising the possibility that it is full of the molecules that could serve as the building blocks for life.
Comment: According to the European Space Agency, stardust has been entering our solar system since the 1990s and our solar system was supposed to be flooded with this interstellar star dust by 2012, so this story of an army of dusters looking for these rare specks from a small sample just seems odd to me. Anyway, is this the predicted adamantine particles that the metaphysical community have been told to expect and why are scientists so anxious to identify these particles? Quite frankly, if metaphysical sources and scientists are both correct, then we can believe that we have entered a new period of renewal and evolutionary change because this stardust has to be highly charged to cross the plasma sheath called the heliosphere around our solar system and therefore we can expect this highly charged plasma to be life giving. A family of four and their dog spent four days bogged in mud in far west New South Wales after being led astray by a GPS unit. Police say the driver drove off the road while following instructions from the GPS on Thursday. They say the GPS instructed the driver to travel along a closed road near Wilcannia, and the driver ignored the road closure signs. Weather conditions prevented police from getting to the family sooner but they were finally rescued last night. Sergeant Fisher from Broken Hill Police Station says a rescue team from Wilcannia was finally able to get them out yesterday. "[The crew] braved extremely difficult and treacherous road conditions and travelled out there," he said. "They actually slid off the road quite a few times and almost got bogged themselves." Police say the local council may fine the family for damage done to the road.
Comment: Well, some people are going to be severely disappointed when they find out that our modern technological world cannot cope with severe Space Weather which is essentially deliveries of aetheric energy. It is a FACT that when we are experiencing the most severe blasts of space weather, GPS is unreliable and those who are hypnotised by GPS and refuse to pay attention to the real world, like signs that say ROAD CLOSED, will find themselves in trouble. Life originated in a nebular cloud, over 10 billion years ago, but may have had multiple origins in multiple locations, including in galaxies older than the Milky Way according to Rudolf Schild of Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and Rhawn Joseph of the Brain Research Laboratory. Multiple origins, they believe, could account for the different domains of life: archae, bacteria, eukaryotes.
The first steps toward life may have been achieved when self-replicating nano-particles initially comprised of a mixture of carbon, calcium, oxygen, hydrogen, phosphorus, sugars, and other elements and gasses were combined and radiated, forming a nucleus around which a lipid-like permeable membrane was established, and within which DNA-bases were laddered together with phosphates and sugars; a process which may have taken billions of years.
Comment: Articles like this imply that a paradigm shift is taking place in astrobiology, a victory for those who have been advocating Panspermia for many decades. The believers include Nobel Prize winners who were scorned for their beliefs that life on Earth came from outer space but the latest discoveries have made this hypothesis extremely hard to debunk, but at the same it means that life will be ubiquitous in space and would be DNA based but not necessarily carbon based. Despite the emphasis on chemistry, all chemistry is a dance of charges and a plasma interface will only allow charge that has a higher potential associated with molecules or ions to pass through it. We are being told here clearly that the first kind of life is plasma based, and we can immediately cite indigenous sources who claim that there are other forms of life in the universe that they have called The Ancestors. This morning around 0855 UT, Earth orbiting satellites detected a C3-class solar flare. The origin of the blast was sunspot 1092. At about the same time, an enormous magnetic filament stretching across the sun's northern hemisphere erupted. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the action:
The timing of these events suggest they are connected, and a review of SDO movies strengthens that conclusion. Despite the ~400,000 km distance between them, the sunspot and filament seem to erupt together; they are probably connected by long-range magnetic fields. In this movie (171 Å), a shadowy shock wave (a "solar tsunami") can be seen emerging from the flare site and rippling across the northern hemisphere into the filament's eruption zone. That may have helped propel the filament into space.
In short, we have just witnessed a complex global eruption involving almost the entire Earth-facing side of the sun.
A coronal mass ejection (CME) produced by the event is heading directly for Earth: SOHO movie. High-latitude sky watchers should be alert for auroras when it arrives on or about August 3rd.
Comment: Well, there are now constant reports of these filament eruptions and maybe they signify that the Sun is processing a different type of energy associated with the cosmic environment. The question is: are we witnessing the expected change of Sun? The C3 flare would have arrived at the speed of light in just over 8 minutes and consist of X-rays, gamma rays and radio waves which would wash over the Earth and cause some radio communication problems. The temperature in the region of a solar flare can reach 10 million degrees centigrade and sometimes this is accompanied by a CME, which occurs when the surface of the Sun just lifts off and blasts into space, this mass of particles (billions of tons) travels at a much slower speed usually taking 3/4 days to arrive and hit Earth's magnetosphere. Now, scientists have these giant filaments to study and instead of a localised region, we have a vast swathe of the Sun lifting off in one go carrying a complex magnetic field that will have a greater impact on Earth's technological infrastructure, such as satellites, radio communications, power grids and pipelines. The release of files about a Ministry of Defence civil servant-turned-UFO expert has been blocked.
Nick Pope has drawn on his experiences working for Britain's official UFO investigation unit for a number of books about aliens and strange sights in the skies.
Fellow UFO researcher David Clarke made a Freedom of Information request in 2007 for internal MoD documents about Mr Pope's decision to speak publicly about his conversion from sceptic to believer in the possibility that extra-terrestrials are visiting Earth.
But more than three years later, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has upheld the department's refusal to publish the files because they contain personal information.
Mr Pope worked on the MoD's UFO desk from 1991 to 1994, dealing with possible sightings sent in by the public. He published his first book about the phenomena - Open Skies, Closed Minds - in 1996, although he continued working for the MoD until November 2006.
Comment: So what exactly are they hiding? Well, it's obvious to me that the MOD have been aware for decades that most UFOs/UAPs represent another life form and fear the consequences of the general public finding out. However, since the planet is now being swamped as we experience The Return of The Ancestors, I suppose the UK MOD are now collectively holding their breath, whilst some senior military officers in other countries are breaking ranks and speaking of what they know of the situation. Meanwhile metaphysical leaders get an epic FAIL for not realising what exactly was going to happen when the veil lifts. |
